Amber Glen Save the Un-Saveable Animals Rehab Center

Pinellas Park, Florida

Cause Description:
Amber Glen Equestrian Center has just recently become a 501(c) organization however, founder, Patti Gail, is no stranger to charity. Her journey began back in 2002, she was first on the scene of a "horse versus vehicle accident". The horse had thrown their rider and ran out into traffic where he was hit. It's rider, having just lost her sister in a car accident, two days prior, was very distraught. The horse had suffered serious impact injuries to his shoulder and things looked rather grim. But, when the rider's Father showed up to the scene, he pleaded to Patti "Don't let Echo (the horse) die, or I will surely lose this daughter as well." Patti, who owned and loved a horse of her own, donated all of her time to help do whatever she could to facilitate the treatment of Echo. She even, assisted in working out arrangements with a veterinarian for the owner to make payments etc. Four months into treatment, however, with a $4,000.00 vet bill balance, Echo's owner told Patti, she was going to have him put down. So, Patti did the only thing she knew she could do, and adopted him along with his $4,000.00 vet bill, and saw him through. Echo recovered and became a valued member of her family. But, the happy ending was short lived. In 2004, the boarding facility where Patti kept both; her horse and Echo, fell victim to a tragic fire. Sadly, Patti's horse did not make it and Echo, was in critical condition after suffering third degree burns over 70% of his body. Patti needed to find someone willing to house and to treat Echo, in his delicate condition but, she soon realized, that there weren't many places, that accept such cases. So, her Mom and Dad bought a barn in Pinellas Park and Patti devoted herself to bringing Echo back to life. Echo, in turn, healed so well that, over the course of the next 2yrs- three more burn victims were sent to, and saved by, Patti herself. Word began to spread and she took case after impossible case, no matter the owner's ability to pay. Now, that little barn in Pinellas Park is known as, Amber Glen Equestrian Wellness Center. One of her most notable accomplishments came in 2015, as a little known noxious weed, called "Creeping Indigo" was, taking the media and the horse community by storm. The weed, brought here from Madagascar in 1933, by the University of Florida for testing, had turned out to be severely toxic. However, the weed was not contained, and sadly, had consumed Florida state and spread into southern Georgia and Alabama, with no warning to the community of it’s presence until a young woman's story began to unfold in January 2015. Patti followed the tragic story of, the loss of her beloved mare on Christmas morning 2014 and learned the severe illness of her other three horses that, were soon to be lost to this incurable silent killer. Patti, not being one to ever accept defeat, immediately dove into the topic. Researching Creeping Indigo toxins, their affects and how similar organ/tissue damages had been cured in the past. After coming up with a plan, she contacted the victim and offered to attempt to save her other three horses with what she had recently concluded. The woman anxiously accepted her offer and low and behold. Patti saved the “un-saveable”, yet again. She has continued to lead the charge on Creeping Indigo Cure research, working closely with University of Florida and Florida state veterinary boards. To date, she has PERSONALLY save more than 25 more Creeping Indigo victims- all at no cost to owners. As stories of her amazing abilities spread throughout the horse community, demand for her help has grown leaps and bounds in recent years. Becoming a 501(c) organization will allow her to continue to help animals and owners in need for years to come. Amber Glen will be able to take in horses from 501 rescue groups and help heal them faster. Patti is also integrating the injured horses with wounded veterans, disabled children and foster kids, to enable one to help the other. This program is a ground breaker and a missing link in this journey to Please, help support this organization and the amazing woman behind it so that, she may continue to do, what she was clearly put on this Earth to do, and SAVE THE UN-SAVEABLE.
