Cause Description:
Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area is a 501 C3 tax exempt organization founded in 1980 that serves 27 communities in central Maine. Certified Hospice Volunteers provide non-medical support to individuals and their families during the final stages of life, grief support to individuals of all ages,and community education and support regarding end-of-life and grief issues. Nine grief support groups for adults, a grieving children and teen program, support for caregivers and a comprehensive lending library are provided at their Hospice Community Center in Waterville. Services also include complementary care for Hospice clients, caregivers and bereavement clients. Volunteers are also available to construct handicapped ramps and coffins. All services are provided at no charge. The Hospice Community Center is available for group meetings and family gatherings appropriate to the HVWA mission.
